Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp and Texas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos had been each ejected from Wednesday evening’s recreation at Dodger Stadium after a collision on the plate induced each benches to clear.
Kemp was making an attempt to attain from second base on Enrique Hernandez‘s two-out single to proper area within the backside of the third inning. But with Chirinos receiving the throw nicely forward of him, Kemp lowered his shoulder and barreled into him.
After Kemp was tagged out to finish the inning, Chirinos obtained up and shoved him. Kemp returned the shove and each benches and bullpens emptied and shaped a scrum on the plate.
Rules have been put in place to outlaw runners from plowing into catchers, and catchers have to offer runners a lane to the plate most often. In this play, the throw residence took Chirinos immediately into Kemp’s path to the plate.
