In Norway, polydactyl cats are referred to as Skipskatt “ship's cats” as the additional toes supposedly gave them higher stability on ships in stormy climate; they aren’t unusual and polydactyl kittens are wanted pets. Polydactyl random-bred cats have been reported in Sweden although different European cat lovers (areas not reported) had apparently by no means seen a polydactyl.
